Aamir Riaz draws the human figure the way a surveyor draws a boundary — patiently, and with an eye on what has already been lost. Trained at the National College of Arts, he works almost exclusively in ink on paper, at a scale that asks the viewer to stand back before stepping close.

His recent series concerns thresholds: doorways, city gates, the moment between one room and the next. He lives and works in a converted flat in Lahore's Krishan Nagar.
